Pensacola Beach, the Gulf of Mexico and Santa Rosa Sound (our alternate swim course) are all looking great these days. White sands, blue-green water and gentle breezes make this the perfect setting for a tremendous triathlon on October 2nd! The Santa Rosa Island Authority and the cleanup crews have worked extraordinary hours to ensure the island is a great place for our visitors, especially triathletes, to come.

We continue to line up sponsors who are providing products for your race packets and we will again present the Best Post-Race Party in Triathlon. Our generous sponsor Carrabbas will provide quality food accompanied by our great refreshments. Whether it’s your first triathlon or you’ve raced for years, this event will be the multisport experience you won’t want to miss! Click the registration button above to enter online or to download a manual entry form. We’ll see you soon in the SRITRI!

We continue to move ahead with our preparations for a great triathlon event on Pensacola Beach despite the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Our alternate swim course is in Santa Rosa Sound on the North side of the island and that body of water is fine. It has proven very serviceable in other events and has served recently as the swim venue for the Mere Mortals training group. Water quality tests have revealed no advisories and it would work very well for the SRITRI on October 2nd if necessary.

As of now the Gulf of Mexico and Casino Beach (where the primary SRITRI swim is conducted) look fine – the beach is clean and the water quality is acceptable. That could vary due to tides, winds and the progress of the cleanup effort in the Gulf. If the Gulf were deemed unsafe for our triathletes to swim in, the race would begin in Santa Rosa Sound.

REMINDERS: early registration ($70) ends July 31st – take advantage of that rate now as fees will increase to $90 on August 1st; you can still get great early registration deals at The Hampton Inn and Portofino Resort; Our great friends at Carrabbas will again headline the Best Post-race Party In Triathlon.
